How I came to using Ubuntu

Since Microsoft started begin this year to aggressively promoting their new free Windows 10 version I got more and more often nagging screens on my Windows 7 installation which offered me an upgrade to Windows 10 which I not wanted. The nagging pop-up screens became more and more aggressive till I finally decided that it is enough.

Followed by this decision came two extensive weeks of installing and testing different Linux distributions and I finally settled with Ubuntu. Thats where my journey into the Linux world began. The following weeks where some kind of struggle with setup and fighting with the terminal I found my way to an amazing community at Ask Ubuntu where I meanwhile being very active myself answering question of other Ubuntu users.

All in all I created this page to provide tutorials around the struggles I encountered with Ubuntu myself in hope they would be beneficial for others seeking advice and help.

Nagging pop-up screens can be disabled by uninstalling corresponding Windows Update. BTW, I hate Win10 and still use Win7 – hope in the next 5-6 years.
